Dr Anil Asthana is a specialist Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist. He completed his undergraduate medical degree from the prestigious King's College in London. Anil is both a graduate from the Royal College of Surgeons of England as well as a physician from the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
Dr Asthana has been one of the first physicians in Australia to perform intestinal ultrasound (bedside test) and has a research interest in this expertise area.
Anil has published multiple papers in peer-reviewed journals and textbook chapters and continues his research interests with a focus on training physicians using US in both IBD and functional gut disorders. He is currently the chair of the Australian National Intestinal Ultrasound Group and is on the steering committee of the International Bowel Ultrasound Group (IBUS).
